A letter to my Younger self..

Hi lovelies,

Today we are trying something different. I am giving you all an exercise. Each one of you reading this, have to drop everything you are doing right now, and write at least a paragraph – a paragraph, few sentences or a letter to your younger self. It need not be very specific. I will give you an example (I have not gone into specifics for personal reasons, but feel free to write whatever you wish your younger self knew) :

A LETTER TO MY YOUNGER SELF

Hey you,

Don’t be shocked. It’s a message from your future self. A future you never imagined, yet will be very happy to receive. It will take some time adjusting, but you will be guided, loved and appreciated by people around you and the Universe.

You believe and have noticed the power and existence of Universe/God/Energy. I know you are not very religious, nor will you be growing up, but you be become more spiritual. You will witness miracles in your life, some bigger than the most.

This letter won’t reveal much to you, as it must still be a surprise, it must still happen the way it has – as it is all beautiful. This doesn’t mean that you don’t feel sad, down, lonely or upset at times –  you do, but you have got lot stronger, wiser and patient!

This letter is a reminder to you to not give up! I know you want to, I know on some days, you already have – I want to remind you that you are loved, even if you can’t see it. You are not alone and you are definitely not a failure. It’s a uphill climb – for a little while. You cannot afford to give up – as the moments that you are going to experience in coming years – sad, happy, joyous, content, peaceful, depressing – all of them – are all so beautiful!!

Do not go labelling yourself please, it is hindering your growth. You are not weird, geeky or someone who doesn’t fit in! You are all wonderful. You are not as different as circumstances around you make you feel, you will find your people, your tribe, your passion and your drive. SO hold on!

I am not at liberty to tell you exactly how things unfold, personally I wouldn’t even want to – I want you to experience it exactly how’s it meant to be!

Just remember – I love you, Universe loves you – You are loved, guided, directed and molded into the best version of yourself. And I am still growing and evolving, just as you are – so here’s to a beautiful life! Pause at times and appreciate the beauty of every thing, place, people, emotions and conversations around you – Find the peace you always have within. Keep doing things you love without the guilt.

Yes, you still love poetry and dancing, and recording yourself speak. You still dream and interpret them. You are getting good at things. It is not weird, love your unique habits and passions, that includes teaching the walls & toys for fun, playing your ukulele, reading self help books, interpreting poetry and movies, etc.

In words of Marcus Aurelius : “Everything that happens is an opportunity to practice virtue.”

Control what’s in your hand and let go of what’s not – because what is not in your control will be looked after by the loving Universe! Also, it saves a lot of time and energy for other important stuff!!

You are a very bright person – don’t let people dim your lights! Keep growing. Happy Evolving.

Love,

Your future self.

Why this activity?

I hope you are reading this only after you have finished writing your paragraph, sentences or a letter.

Here’s why I made you write this letter:

Engaging in the exercise of writing a paragraph, a few sentences, or a letter to your younger self carries numerous benefits. Firstly, it prompts a pause in your daily routine, allowing you to momentarily disconnect from the demands of the present and reflect on your past. This act of self-reflection fosters a heightened awareness of personal growth, achievements, and the lessons learned along the way. Writing to your younger self also provides a therapeutic outlet to express gratitude for positive experiences and extend self-compassion for past mistakes. Additionally, the exercise serves as a form of introspection, encouraging you to impart valuable insights and advice to the person you once were. It becomes a journey of self-discovery and healing, contributing to an overall sense of well-being and motivation for continued personal development.

Hope you enjoyed today’s self reflecting activity.

Catch you soon…
