Ask yourself “Who Am I?” :Authenticity Isn’t a Destination — It’s a Daily Choice✨

I see many sides of the world and how we live life.

I see people fighting on the roads for no reason. I see people meditating calmly for hours. I see people partying the night away in various clubs.

I hear the noises, I hear the silences, I feel the floor move by dances, I also feel the vibrations of the chatters.

I see people becoming millionaires. I see people running their businesses. I see people loving their 9-to-5.

I also see people dropping out of college. I see people choosing to stay in courses they hate. I see people broken over failures defined by them. I see people leave people. I see people struggling to fit in.

I see people loving their lives. I see people making the best of the decisions and never being shy. I see vulnerability. I see the passions.

I see the pain. I see the death.

Hi all,

I am sure we all have met wonderfully unique people in our lives, some as strangers, some as loved ones, some as our colleagues, some as friends, some as enemies and some as our lovers. Nevertheless, we see people. We try to get inspired, or hate, or blame, or praise so many, and of course ourselves.

But, let me ask you, if given a choice today, who would you wanna be?

Just for a day, a year, or a whole lifetime, who do you wanna be?

This question comes to my mind every single time I sit to meditate or watch YouTube. I know, weird correlation, right?

Well, not really, meditation just gives me the ability to hear those voices, which have asked these questions a million times a day, and I had ignored them simply because I was busy scrolling or doing some chores.

As soon as I sat down to watch a video, I realised this is where that thought came from, during meditation.

There are so many types of videos and so many types of people out there. Not just on the internet but in the world, each is unique. Some make travelling content and make fun of silly things, some speak on spirituality, some on money, some mock others, some talk calmly, some copy others, some stop being relevant, some stop pushing, some push too hard.

With every movie, every video, every show, and every interaction you meet a different vibe. And if you are as highly sensitive a soul as I, you will get confused.

What and how would you want to be?

Funny and glamorous, Calm and therapeutic, Travelling and fun, or myth busters.

I would start watching a few of them and imitate them, only to start judging them when someone influential in my life (like parents, siblings, or friends) made fun of that person. Now, that person aka that personality, vibe or life is not the best suddenly.

We all change, grow, and evolve through many personalities of our own, not necessarily, but most of the time, shaped by the people we surround ourselves with (or watch online). Ask yourself how different a person you are today when compared to 5, 10, 20 years ago? The answer will surprise you.

Yes, we shouldn’t compare or let other’s opinions change us. But how many times do we stop and question it?

What are you today, and whom are you becoming with each passing minute, and why?

Did you sit by yourself anytime and ask why you love the things that you do? What shaped you?

It’s important to realise that we are all observing people around us and we are all being observed by others. Not one person can truly be another, yet we are somehow in a race, competing with one another or trying to be that person ahead of us, when in truth it’s a circle. No one is ahead or behind. No one is failing or winning. We are all living this life on Earth for the very first time, as we remember, and we make the best choices depending on the situations we are put in, so where’s the need to compare, judge, or mimic?

The answer to the question I asked earlier, “Just for a day, a year, or a whole lifetime, who do you wanna be?”, if you dug deep, it would be YOURSELF. You never know what that person you aspire to be has or is going through; it might look glamorous or satisfying, but it would never be truly so.

If given a day, a month, or a year, be yourself.

Be the most authentic, truly magnetic self you can be. Make cringy jokes and some new memories, fall and get up the way only you know how to. Your likes, dislikes, behaviours, let it reflect your true self. Not a mimic, not a competition, just as you were meant to be.

Be that side of you that speaks even when you embody other’s energies, likes, approval or personalities, that side which you feel deeply as you go to sleep or meditate. That side that might be scared right now to show up.

This was my tiny win today, to realise that it’s all ME. I am the person I see, and I am the person I want to be. Others can inspire me, love me, be loved by me but in the end its all gonna be for me and to me.

I hope you resonated with this non-structured form of content. I hope it inspired you to ask yourself and show up as your true self today.

Thank you for reading

Catch you in the next one.
